Low Energy Lightbulbs

low_energy_lightbulbs

A bright idea! Just one Energy Saving Recommended light bulb alone may have up to 10 times as long as a standard light bulb, saving around £5.00 - £10.00 a year. It can therefore reduce your lighting costs by up to £100 over the duration of its lifetime.

The main difference between conventional and Energy Saving light bulbs is that a large proportion of energy is wasted in conventional bulbs as they transfer their energy initially into heat and not light. Energy Saving Recommended bulbs, however, work in much the same way as fluorescent lights, whereby an electric current passes through gas in a tube and the atoms are excited by a chemical reaction thus producing light and hence reducing the amount of energy wasted.
