Thermal Store Installation

The Thermal Store (TS) is the heart of the Haven Project it is where all the latent energy gained from the Solar Panel, Wood Burning Stove and ‘Green’ electricity is stored in the form of hot water. This hot water is used for normal household activities such as showering, washing, the dish washer and washing machine. The TS provides the heat source for the central heating system. The TS used for the Haven Project, after much debate and expert assistance, was an open system with mains pressure hot water TS with a 3 kW electric coil which if used uses ‘Green’ electricity on the Economy 7 tariff. It is a combination unit which incorporates a feed and expansion tank, and eliminates the problems associated with a cold water cistern in the roof space.
